Aluminium Stewardship Initiative


Sam is the Director of Standards and Assurance at the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). Sam started working with ASI in 2015 with the responsibility to oversee the development and implementation of ASI’s standards and the assurance program.  Sam is a chemical engineer and HSE practitioner in project management, process engineering, HSE management, and standards development and auditing.  He started his career working in the aluminium industry for Comalco working on primary aluminium direct chill casting facilities, furnaces and utilities.  Since then he has worked with a range of organisations in the mining, energy and manufacturing sectors, including BHP, CSIRO, Responsible Jewellery Council and URS on assignments ranging from projects management of process engineering improvements, design of low emission combustion technologies and the development of integrated sustainability management standards and systems. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science, both from the University of Melbourne
